The day was sunny, warm, and clear. The sky was a perfect baby blue, and in it floated a few fluffy, white clouds. The kind that made people feel good, ya know? Said clouds were currently being gazed at by a little girl of eleven. Kenadie laid in the grass, her head resting comfortably as she stared upwards. Occasionally, a little giggle would slip from her lips as she discovered a cloud to look like something in particular, such as a rabbit or a pony. The small girl was perfectly at ease here in the park as she bathed in the warmth of the sun's rays. Currently, she was not in her "father's" presence - he was probably drunk off his ass somewhere - and her sister, whom she had just found and reconnected with, wasn't around at the moment. Copeland was probably playing with fire or causing trouble in the town right at the very moment. This was where Kena and her twin had their differences. If it wasn't their odd abilities, then it was their personalities. In comparison to her sister, Kenadie was the quiet, shy, and wary-submissive one. She never liked to get into trouble, for she knew that whenever she did, bad consequences waited for her at home. So, to make things easier, the girl kept herself in check. Most of the time.
A soft breeze blew through the area and tickled its way past the girl's nose. Kenadie scrunched her nose up a little as a sneeze dared to break past her self-control. Suddenly, the young girl lost the fight to the sneeze and sat up, rubbing the back of her hand lightly against her nose as she looked around herself, her eyes watery. She must've had allergies or something. Not like she really knew what those were, though. The little brunette let out a gentle yawn as the sun caressed her cheeks. Kenadie turned her green eyes back up to the sky. Copeland would love this weather. The sun had managed to stay out all day so far. The girl sighed softly and looked down again, watching a woman walk by with a rambunctious puppy. More giggles came from the girl's mouth as she watched the canine bound and yip. Kenadie was a sucker for cute, baby animals. Or really, any animal in general. It didn't really matter what it was, she had a soft spot for all of nature's creatures. Especially the ones that lived in water. That must've been a natural connection, considering how she herself was more a creature of the sea than of the land. Kinda. In a way.
There wasn't anything too exciting happening at the moment, which was unfortunate. Kenadie frowned a little to herself. She would go and find a friend to play with, but... She didn't really have friends. Her father rarely let her socialize with other kids in an environment outside of school. Times like now, where she happened to be alone, were rare. The girl sat quietly, watching the world pass by with her bright, inquisitive eyes. Might as well not let that get her down, right? Right. The eleven-year-old girl stood up and brushed herself off for a moment, the black tights on her legs having collected loose grass as well as her similarly-hued skirt and white, long-sleeve sweater. Her father always made her wear clothing that covered up her skin. Completely. Kenadie never questioned his motives. She understood, and she didn't like to be in the spotlight anyways. She was good at keeping secrets, and at staying quiet. Sooner or later, though, the girl was going to have to find a voice of her own. Or else things would start spiraling even more out of control. The innocence of the girl had already been tainted enough, she didn't need to lose even more of it. Kenadie blinked softly as she glanced around, falling out of the daze she had seemed to drift into as she thought about things. Nobody even seemed to notice her...

It was an absolutely gorgeous afternoon at the park, and Preston had spent not a single moment dawdling indoors. It was the young man’s day off in months so he was not wasting it. He sauntered to his favorite spot in the populated park grounds and took a seat beneath an ancient tree which encased him with the cool breath of shade. He had a pair of sunglasses perched stylishly on his visage for his eyes were extra sensitive this morning, so he was quick to grab some protection from the heating rays. Preston hadn’t been to this place in quite a while, and he could already spot multiple new faces on the grassy knolls. Seating himself, his signature satchel bag lay within the perfectly emerald strands of grass tickling at Preston’s crossed legs. He reached into the bag and pulled out a tattered and torn booklet with slips of paper almost falling on every page. He quickly evened the detached pages the best way he could and before long, flipped open the booklet. Every page was decorated with chaotic line after line of lyrics for the band, and he had done almost infinite amounts of editing, even to song he had never changed until maybe five years later. Preston was definitely never satisfied with his work, and the thought of his perfection complex caused him to recall Vergil’s reassurance to Preston. His roommate seemed to have to constantly cheer him up, and the thought of being such a burden only made it worse for him. It was like a never ending cycle of disappoint; Preston would try his best to cheer himself up but to no avail. That affect those around him to try and cheer him up, but that never made him feel like he was worth anything, only like pathetic trash.
He barely even started working before he closed the book out of disgust of how worthless he was. Like clockwork, the images of his past came rushing back and his deep blue eyes became portals of misery as his entire life flashed before him. With a desperate sigh, he immediately gripped for the plastic bottle holding his pills and twisted open the top and pop a single pill into his mouth, swallowing it and feeling the scratch of it descending deep into his stomach. Hopefully that would help for now.
Finished, Preston gazed outward and suddenly noticed a small figure all alone just a few yards away from him and she seemed to be greatly lost in thought. Preston titled his head downward trying to catch a glimpse of her downcast iris’ to see if he could guess what exactly she was thinking about. She seemed sad, something Preston was all too familiar with, which tugged at Preston’s soul. He hated seeing others in shambles, especially children. They had so much ahead of them, and they needed help to guide them before they became people like... him. Failures.
He didn’t know if he should say something or anything but then he jumped as she came out her trance and began to glance around her and she seemed to meet eyes with her. Embarrassed, he blushed and rolled his fingers nervously together and called out, “Hey... you doing alright over there?” He really hoped he wasn’t coming off as some sort of creeper he just really felt like this little girl needed something. Her eyes were like his, and he wanted to see if he could help with something. Even if she was just upset about maybe not being able to get some ice cream, he would help her out. Children needed happiness in their lives, and Preston wanted to make sure he did help others.

Even in a world this big, it was easy for someone to be alone. Kenadie frowned a little again as she glanced around. There were plenty of people around her, yes, but they were all... Together. Happy families and couples, or people who were pursuing something in their minds, like the joggers that occasionally passed by. None of them were just sitting there all alone like she was. The eleven-year-old girl felt her eyebrows come together. She realized that if her father-figure was here, even he wouldn't be accompanying her. She would be just as alone as she was now. Kenadie turned her eyes away from where they had been unknowingly staring. They would've burnt a hole into the sidewalk if she kept them there for just a second longer. The girl let out a breath she didn't know she had been holding and glanced around herself as she had done before. The girl suddenly stopped short when her eyes locked with those of a stranger. The man was something between a blond and a brunet, and he had these striking, blue eyes. Kenadie instantly became flustered with shyness and stared at him, wide-eyed. She didn't quite know what to do, since her social-skills weren't too great from lack of experience.
As the man started to speak to her, the girl became even more skittish. Locking eyes with him was bad enough, but now he was talking to her? Did she even know how to carry on a proper conversation? The answer was no. Not really. She would attempt it though, since it was the right thing to do. At least the girl knew between right and wrong, and what was rude and what proper manners were. Kenadie blushed in her timidness and nodded a little bit too rapidly as a response. It was obvious she didn't handle well when being put on the spot. "U-um, yes sir, I'm okay!" the little brunette said in reply, her soft voice layering over a shaky nervousness. Kenadie stood there for a moment, completely awkward. Shame on her "father" for making her this way. The girl was about to turn and flee when she took one last look at the stranger. With a hesitant gaze, she peeked at his eyes. They were so sad... So... Alone. The green-eyed girl paused and clasped her hands together. Maybe she wasn't the one who needed to be asked whether she was alright or not...
"E-excuse me, mister," she said quietly, a bit reluctant to raising her voice higher up than that just above a whisper. "Are you okay?" she asked with a tilt of the head. Her brown hair fell to one side as she looked at him, her eyes troubled as they locked onto the plastic bottle of pills beside the man. For a girl of her age, she knew too much. Kenadie raised her eyes back upward and blinked. Now that she took the time to realize it, she noticed that she wasn't the only one here in the park that was completely alone. This man was too. It saddened her more knowing that he was alone more rather than knowing this about herself. Though she only had eleven years under her belt, she knew and understood things better than most other children. She also preferred to put others before herself. It was just the way she was. Her father's abuse had altered her in many ways, several bad but also a few good. This trait of hers was one of the good results of his actions. "I'm just... Um..." Kenadie didn't know what to say to make her question seem more reasonable and non-intrusive. To her, at least. The man could've viewed it as a simple question and barely read into it. But she was different. Her "father" didn't like it when she asked him questions, so if they ever slipped out, she always had to rush and cover them up before he could get the chance to reply. The young girl shrank back a little as she thought about this, her eyes taking on a somewhat fearful look. What if this man was violent like her father...?
((I'm sorry this is so all over the place |

Preston watched as the young girl stood before him in utter anxiety, which caused the young male to sigh in shame. What was he really doing, talking to this small girl who had been quite spooked by Preston’s random inquiry. He just couldn’t disregard the fact that this innocent child looked deeply troubled, almost lost even and Preston, as he mentioned before, carried a deep pity for children in need of help, since no one ever seemed to notice when they needed the most help until it was too late. He didn’t want to live through life knowing that he could have helped someone from becoming who he used to be; no one deserved that.
The human was taken by surprise when Kenadie questioned whether or not Preston was alright. It caused his insides to twist on themselves as he realized at how evident he had made his dejections to the young female. Curse his expressive eyes, they were his worst feature at keeping secrets, since they acted like portals into his soul, and it was hard to keep those reflections at bay to those who looked. His doctor, Dr. Kadic, could read him like a children’s book every time he visited for a session to the Psychologist’s office, it was frustrating. Yes the man was there for Preston to talk to, but his natural instinct was to keep it to himself, since the very few people he informed either betrayed his trust or did not believe him. ‘Surely no one could survive a life like that,’ many would say, like it was utterly impossible for someone’s existence to be so terrible. Humans disgusted him, for they were cruel and ignorant to everyone around them. His roommate, Vergil, was much like a dog, in tune with their surroundings and effective and changing the world around him. He was a free spirit, Preston was not.
“Ah, y-yes... I am fine.” He gave Kenadie his famous half-smile, rubbing his hands nervously together as the female drew closer to him, however she was just as cautious as he. He adjusted himself on the grass and began to sit on one of his legs before staring back at her again, “If you don’t mind me asking young lady, what are you doing here by yourself? Shouldn’t you be at school child?” As he questioned the girl, it struck him that he had one, not introduced himself properly, and two had just passed so many personal boundaries in just a few seconds. In a ruffled state, Preston chuckled apologetically and stuck out his hand gently, making sure not to frighten the young woman. “Oh, I apologize, Preston is the name. Pleased to meet you...” He left a few moments open for her to introduce herself if she decided to, but the young man would not force her since... oh man.
“Uh, I’m sorry again, I’m obviously a stranger to you, you don’t have to say anything. I...” He also stopped midway, lost in his crazed, embarrassing thoughts. He really didn’t know the world around him!
occ; Oh your post was fine! Apologizes for my tiny post! lol

The little girl wasn't certain about what to do. She felt as if this man was just as unsure about the whole situation as she was. He kept joining his hands together and then twisting them in a nervous fashion. She kept noticing it, it was like clockwork. He would speak, twist, speak, perform another nervous gesture, and repeat. Was it because she was so young? Kenadie knew that many adults preferred not to say more than just a "hello" to her because of her age. She knew they didn't want to get too close, as well. It was hard to get that close to the girl, anyways. She was such a nervous wreck, who would even want to try? The green-eyed Sleeping Veil Siren shuffled a little in her spot as the man gave his response to her question. That question that kept nagging her and reprimanding her in her mind. God, why did she even ask it? Kenadie nodded a little, biting her lower lip and nibbling on it anxiously as she glanced around again. Should she leave...? The girl snapped her head back over to the blue-eyed man as he spoke to her once more, asking her even more questions. Kenadie blinked. School? Today was Saturday.
Unable to help herself, the little girl let out a giggle at his question. That was silly of him. "Sir, I don't have school today," she laughed out, her voice now more at ease as the amusement got the best of her. As she thought back to his first question, she adjusted her left sleeve, tugging it down as her humor faded and her mouth became straight once more. "O-oh, nothing... I'm just.... Playing...?" Her answer turned into something of a question as she stared down at her hands. That's what normal kids did, right? Played? But... By themselves, in a place such as this? Kenadie shrugged a little and looked up, startled to see the man's hand outstretched before her. Her breath escaped her for a moment, and she had to swallow to calm her heartbeat a little before she hesitantly began to inch forward closer to the man. She had thought he was about to strike her... The girl's hand was incredibly small in the man's. Er, Preston's. That was what he had introduced himself as. "I'm Kenadie..." she said quietly, her voice small as she tried not to let the nerves overcome her. "I-it's, um, it's nice to meet you too!" she said quickly, saving herself from her lack of response to what he had said. Man... She needed to get out more.
The little brunette quickly pulled her hand back and took a few fleeting steps away from Preston, her discomfort showing though she tried desperately to hide it. So far, this man wasn't turning out to be that bad... But that was what she had thought about her father the first time she had met him too. Kenadie shook her head, trying to smile at Preston in reassurance as he started to ramble off about the situation. "It's ok!" she said more brightly than her previous statements. It was easier talking to him when she wasn't as close to him as she had been when they were shaking hands. "I don't mind making friends, mister," the girl said, a shy little smile finding its way onto her face as she timidly stood before him. The friends that she did have were few and far between, but they were a nice refuge from the troubles that awaited her at home when she got the chance to be around them, which wasn't often. "This is how you make friends anyways, right sir?" Kenadie tilted her head to one side and blinked her green eyes at Preston. His head wasn't too far down from her own, even with him sitting and her standing. She was a very small child, though, so it was understandable. As the girl stood there waiting for his response, she wondered if he would read between the lines of her question and realize that she didn't really know what she was doing when it came to socializing like this. If he would realize her loneliness.
((No no, yours was perfect! I hope I didn't ramble too much...))

Preston admired her courage in the face of her emotional adversity, noticing from her body language that Kenadie did not converse with other people very often. Granted, Preston was genuinely identical in that aspect, however he had to force himself into ‘civilized’ conversations at places such as work or even band practice every day. He had known his band for a good few years, but with Preston’s emotional wall constantly raised, they still felt like strangers to him. They accepted his over-bearing boundary problems most of the time, but when something was generally wrong with a friend, one’s instinct is to ask questions, which is not something Preston took to very easily, especially about his feelings and his past. Meeting someone knew was exactly easy, but he felt slightly more confident in his ability to converse when he met Vergil since two hit it off extremely quickly. Hell, Vergil shared his greatest secret with this human in only about an hour of knowing each other, and that time he had spent barking at Preston! Preston felt deeply honored by the man’s honesty, which caused a twinge of pain in his chest. Vergil had admitted to a stranger the most incredible secret Preston had ever heard and all he did was keep to himself. He had already half-lied to the shifter about the man true intentions when he had burglarized Preston’s apartment. That heavy ache still hung over him and he rolled his neck to help release some tension in his bones.
Preston gave an alarmed chuckle when she mentioned it was a Saturday. Raising his hand, he playfully smashed his palm to his forehead and shook his head, disgraced. “Wow, that’s right. That’s the only reason I’m here too, I have the day off from work on Saturdays.” He looked at the little Siren and gave her a soft, warm grin, his bright azure eyes peered at the innocent soul in a means to try and comfort her anxiety. She was quite the adorable girl with her long brunette locks dancing in the breeze of the cool summer afternoon. Her eyes were strange however... not a child’s gaze, even in her state of childish nerves. They seemed, aged far beyond her physical form and the sight surprised him greatly that such a small child carried these burdened iris’. It was heartbreaking.
“That’s a beautiful name Miss Kenadie.” He complimented, his smile growing larger as she acknowledged his hand. However, he was stunned when she took a few frightened steps back, retracting within herself like a rabbit too skittish to explore outside the burrow. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to frighten you Miss Kenadie!” He said with expressive honesty, his blue eyes shaded with concern.
When Kenadie began to try an reassure the relationship, Preston grinned in approval. “Yes, yes it is. And I enjoy making friends, although I am quite terrible at it actually, so bear with me.” He teased. He noticed his body began to react to the medication and he felt his body slowly begin to calm to a reasonable level, “So, what were you playing?”

A warm blush flitted over the girl's cheeks as Preston complimented her name. Where had she gotten it? She didn't know if her father had given it to her or not. Had he? Kenadie frowned a little. She honestly had no clue. After she had pulled her hand back, it seemed she had startled the man more than herself. He was quick to react, an apology flowing from his lips in a matter of seconds. It made her heart warm. She had never been apologized to so sincerely before. "R-really, sir, it's okay. I'm sorry for moving so fast..." she said quietly in return. She continued on to talk about making friends and all that. That was, after all, what they were doing. Making friends with one another. This could be viewed as the girl being completely stupid, considering how he was a grown man and she a small, seemingly innocent girl. She could hold her own though, if need be. She could sing him to his death if she wanted to. Kenadie wasn't that kind of soul, though. Preston had nothing to worry about. The girl was too used to abuse - both physical and mental - to really put up a fight anymore. In her early years when it had all began, she didn't have much awareness of her abilities, and now that she did have more knowledge on them, she still didn't really use them. Not in that way, at least. She had been, to put it simply, broken.
As Preston said he was quite bad at making friends as well, Kenadie couldn't help but smile slightly in return. Wasn't it obvious that he was doing a much better job than she? No matter, it still made the girl smile, and that was big, considering how reluctant she was to warm up to strangers. Unknowingly to her, as Preston's medication took its role in his body and began to calm him, she began to calm as well, slowly yet surely growing more at ease around him. Add in a little bit of her humming or singing and the both of them would be completely mellowed out by the end of the hour. Kenadie twisted the toe of her foot into the ground as she thought about her answer to his next question. She was playing... Um... Nothing really. But she was looking at the clouds! That counted, right? "I was looking at the clouds!" she said, a sudden vigor filling her tiny voice. Something took over the girl then, something that's sudden presence made absolutely no sense, and she quickly ran back over to Preston. She headed straight to his side, and once she reached it she plopped herself down onto the ground quickly. She blinked her green eyes upward, then stopped short once she saw the leaves of the tree blocking the sky above her. Duh! Why hadn't she thought about that?! Letting out a little miffed sound, the girl pushed herself back up onto her feet and then gripped both of Preston's hands. Whatever had come over her, she had no clue.
"Come on, Mr. Preston, over here!" she said, her voice still quiet though with a new hint of confidence and excitement. Where had that come from? The small girl tugged on the man's hands, her light brown locks bouncing against her back as she pulled. She was trying to get him out of the shade and into the sunshine. There was a much better view of the sky there, and with the sky the clouds. "Look, up there! You can see different things in the clouds if you just look!" Kenadie said as she still pulled on his hands. Being such a small girl while doing this was not very productive. Nevertheless, she still tried. Sometimes this girl was stubborn, and she would try and try until she succeeded. Or ultimately crashed and burned. "Please, you can't see anything when the leaves and branches are in the way! I can show you so many things if you just come with me!" Oh, how sad her cries were becoming. Oh well, she could pull the crocodile tears if she wanted to. But as she did this, she was really just curious about whether or not Preston would react positively to her and go along with her plan. He could be the kind of person that would shrug her off and nicely decline, or be like her father and shove her away with a few good swear words mixed in, or be the willing kind that would give her a chance to prove herself. Hopefully he was the latter. "Please Mr. Preston, I promise it'll be fun!"

"Whoa, alright!" Preston laughed in surprise as the little girl tugged and pulled at his hand, beckoning him to get out from underneath the shaded tree. It was a gorgeous day and Preston really didn't know why he was spending it under this big bleak tree. Maybe he was afraid? Granted, he was very frightened of the individuals patrolling the street, his paranoia rising at the thought of his family spotting him in this peaceful place with this innocent child. What would they do to little Kenadie if they saw him? His imagination took hold of his sanity and he almost didn't sit up from his utter terror overwhelming him. Preston was so idiotic, why were these thoughts coming to him now after three weeks! For all he knew, they had him in their sights and he was just a dead man walking, ignorant to the danger ahead. His muscles began to tense and his blue eyes expanded in horror, the sights and sounds flooding back like a bad movie that he couldn't turn off. He was strapped in eyes pried open and forced to watch every second of his miserable life unfold again.
You are the one Preston. His grandfather hissed in his ear, his gnarled arthritic fingers curling frighteningly around Preston's wrists in the torture chair. The young human wriggled and thrashed, trying to free himself from this hell. He gazed in horror as this terrifying form drew closer and closer to him in the shadows, as if he was being stalked by some other worldly creature. With a gasp, his Old Blood shot through the dark and screamed, "YOU ARE MINE!"
With a holler, Preston fell back onto his rump, pulling his hands from this little girl's delicate grip and fixed them to his cranium, digging deep into the skin in his scalp, like he was trying to tear the images right from his skull. Shaking head hand back and forth, passer bys pondered as this lunatic sat underneath the shadowed tree, away from the civil world, just where he belonged.
"What's wrong with him?" A passing mother whispered to her friend, who picked up the pace from the stroller clasped tightly in his bony fingers. Other questioned as well, especially for the little child in front of him. Was she in danger? Was she with that disturbed individual? The people around began to retreat father and father away from the vicinity of Kenadie and Preston, who rubbed his temple violently, desperately trying to make the memories stop.
With hallowed breathing, Preston gazed up to the little girl, who he hoped he had not frightened for he half expected her to be long gone. He stared to check and see if she still stood and he whispered desperately, "I-I'm so sorry little Ken-Kenadie." His passionate azure eyes began to water as he knew this innocent child was probably terrified at this point. "I'm so sorry..." He babbled over and over, trying to make amends for making such a frightening scene.
"If I scared you, I-I apologize. What am I t-talking about of course I scared you little one. I just need a moment, but if you want to leave, you may, but I am s-so sorry little Kenadie." He felt so horrible, how could he have allowed this to happen in front of such a young girl, especially one that needed to handled with care and a gentle demeanor and now look what he did!
"I'm so sorry. I want to see the clouds I really do, I'm just..." Would he admit it to her? Did this Kenadie need more problems than she already had? No, he would not allow this! Such weakness, such pathetic antics!
"Afraid..." He didn't even realize what he had said before it was too late. What was he doing?!

Things had been going fine. They were alright. Until something inside Preston suddenly snapped and left Kenadie in the dust. She stood there, wide-eyed, as Preston lost his cool and seemed to have a mental breakdown right before her eyes. The little girl stood there absolutely frozen. She didn't know what to do. She had never seen something like this happen before. It didn't even occur to her that her hands were stinging a little from the way Preston ripped his own from them. She was simply just shocked. Kenadie blinked, swallowed, and began to look around once the whispers started circulating. Her green eyes were still wide, but they weren't filled with surprise or fear anymore. They had a more... Protective edge to them. How dare people talk about Preston that way. He wasn't doing this on purpose! Right...? Kenadie turned her gaze back onto her new friend. He wouldn't do this on purpose... No. The girl wrung her hands together, an anxiousness in the motion. She didn't want Preston to be like this, she just wanted to show him the clouds! She wanted him to be okay! Once the man seemed to get a hold on himself and looked at her, pouring out his apologies, all Kenadie could do was shake her head in furious denial.
"N-no, Mr. Preston! Are you okay?" Worry shone in the girl's eyes as she looked at the man. He was so distraught... Could she help him? Kenadie shook her head again as he said he wanted to see the clouds. She wasn't going to force him to do something. She knew how it felt to be forced to do things. Even if you wanted to do them, it didn't feel nice. Sometimes, you wanted to do something, but something stopped you from doing it. Like right now, with Preston. The green-eyed brunette took a seat right in front of Preston, her little brow coming together in concentration and worry. The shift from annoying little girl to serious, aged young lady was a quick one in her. She could pull it off quite well. Hesitantly, Kenadie reached out with one hand, aiming it towards one of his overlaying his temples. Once her skin made contact with his, she gently tugged downward, pulling his hand with hers. The girl scooted forward a little until her knees were touching Preston's, and once they were, she rested their hands on the bridge of contact between their joints. After she succeeded with the one hand, she repeated the action with the other, and once she had both of Preston's hands held comfortably in hers above their knees, she began to sing.
"To a point, I was good. Tried to do stuff that I should. Tried to do what you said..." her little voice rang out pure and true. The sound was soft and soothing as she attempted to calm down her new companion. She wanted him to feel at ease, to lose the tension that she could feel so clearly in his hands. "That I could be great, so, so great..." Kenadie opened her eyes that she didn't know she had closed. They flickered around briefly to see that the majority of people walking by had gone back to ignoring the pair, and after that had been assured they turned back up to Preston to see whether her voice was making any impact or not. The eleven-year-old smiled softly in reassurance as she continued singing. This was one of her favorite songs, she just loved the way it sounded, and the lyrics that went along with it. Sure, it wasn't stage-quality coming from her lips, especially since she was solo in the matter and had nothing to back her up in her singing as well as her young age and the way that affected how her voice sounded, but it was still pretty and entrancing. The beauty of being part Siren. "We may never know what I can do. I could be great, so, so great." The little girl finished off quietly and found herself to be staring down at her lap. Now what...? This was embarrassing, she had just put herself on the spot. Oh well, as long as it helped Preston. Kenadie looked back up to the man, her eyes worried again as the thought of it not helping him crossed her mind.
((Sorry this is kinda flskdfha and god-moddy and weird. If you want me to edit anything I will! Also, this is the song that Kenadie sang <3 Clickeh clickeh )) [/size]

Preston felt himself suddenly overcome with passion as a small, beautiful siren’s voice echoed through his eardrums, the words from the melody striking perfectly at his torn soul. Was it... Kenadie? If so, her voice was rather powerful for a child her age. His blue eyes rose from the ground and he gazed sweetly at the little child in front of him, singing a spirited tune, her soft closed shut as he continued with the lyrics. Watching her, the gentle hum of her voice was beckoning Preston to return to the world of peace, tranquility, and with her. Her baby soft skin caused a chill, for it was a dramatic difference between his rough, worn hands that were full of nicks and cuts from his days living with his uncle in New York. The gentleness of her flesh made him recall Eva, for she did something similar to this when Preston was in need of help. This girl was beyond her years, even in her voice, and the thought made him curious; what drove a child like Kenadie to this point? Obviously it was probably from a troubled childhood, for she had the same eyes as he. However, what exactly was going on in her life?
As he finished, Preston continued to gawk at the little girl even as she opened her emerald eyes and peered at the human to check and see if it worked. With a smile, his eyes began to glow with surprise, “Kenadie, your voice is beautiful. What is that song, its wonderful.” Inspiration was flooding his mind as he gazed at this little girl, for he knew when he got home (whenever that would be), he was sure to write a song about her. She was quite the muse, for Preston had not met someone like Kenadie before, even if her eyes were all too familiar.
“Don’t be embarrassed little Kenadie, that was wonderful! T-Thank you so much.” He could feel his body tremble but it only after-shakes, for the panic attack had subsided from the wonderful distraction. He continued with the compliments, “You are a wonderful child, again thank you for helping me. These don’t usually happen in public, I just was over thinking something...” His voice trailed off and he stared out into the open green of the park.
“We can go look at the clouds now if you’d like, thanks to you I feel much safer.” He wanted to make sure she would take responsibility for such a gracious act, to let her know how much it meant to him that she had stayed to help him when no one else would. It was true though, she did make him feel more comfortable here now, and he was sure he could take a moment and stare at the white puffs in the sky.
“Would you mind guiding me to the best place to look at the clouds, Ms. Kenadie?” He smiled warmly at the young girl, raising a proud hand and wanted to pat her, but he made sure to be careful, for he did not want her to feel like he was crossing to many boundaries.
ooc; you're cool, I know the post was a little hard not to manipulate at least a little. Hope my post isn't too random lol

Relief flooded through the little girl's system as soon as she spotted the smile on Preston's face. Thank God he was getting some kind of calming effect from this. Her cheeks flushed red from the awed look on his face, but she smiled brightly to cover it up. She was happy she had helped. The girl giggled a little shyly as Preston complimented her voice. She had never sung for another person before, not like this at least, so the sudden praise flustered her beyond belief. "T-thank you, Mr. Preston! It was nothing..." she said timidly. She could feel the way his body still quivered through her tiny hands. At least it wasn't anything overwhelming like before. This pleased her, knowing that she had helped calm him down. She felt proud of herself for achieving such a task. Kenadie paused for a moment in thought, pondering over the name of the song. She was positive she knew it... Oh yes! "Um, I think it's called 'Great' or something! Though I'm not sure who sings it..." she said in reply, trailing off and pursing her lips as she mulled over it some more. Yeah, she had no clue who sang it. Oh well, she was only eleven years old. What were you gonna do? Sue her?
More compliments showered over the girl's head. Her blush intensified greatly. Humbly, Kenadie shook her head, an embarrassed little smile on her lips. "It was just okay, Mr. Preston! I can sing better than that for you," she said quietly in objection. She didn't think it was that good... Not worthy of praise, surely! At Preston's thanks she smiled a little more genuinely, though, truly happy that she had helped him. "As long as it helped you! It's okay, Mr. Preston, I can be there for you whenever you have moments of worry like that," she said sweetly. In all her innocence, she didn't really know what Preston had been going through. She had never witnessed a panic attack before today, so she really didn't know what to call it. She kinda just went with the "moment of worry" thing. It seemed fitting enough. For a girl of her age, it was. Kenadie looked at Preston for a moment after he said they could go look at the clouds. Was he sure...? He still looked a little shaky. But maybe this could help him too! She would even hum or sing quietly once they got comfortable on the grass while looking at the clouds! Surely that would help a ton. Besides, Kenadie liked to sing and hum. It was in her blood.
"O-okay, Mr. Preston," she said, still a little wary about it all. But if it would help... Kenadie stood back up and brushed herself off quickly before looking back to Preston. Despite herself, she flinched at his raised hand. Rather than letting him touch her, she made quick work of the suddenly-presented opportunity and grabbed his hand with her own. She would lead him out toward the sun a little ways away, where the grass was warm and the sky was in perfect view. The grabbing his hand thing also made sure that he wouldn't accidentally end up touching one of her many bruises and scratches. That could end badly... Kenadie smiled quickly at Preston and waited for him to stand and follow her. She was quite the patient little girl. After having learned the hard way that not everything was rainbows and butterflies, she had developed a few new traits to herself. One of them was that she had learned to be more patient about things. Her father did things on his own time and whenever he pleased, not when she wanted to do them. It was alright, though. She understood.
((It was great! Sorry if mine's a bit rambly, I've been scatter-brained lately))

Preston grinned at Kenadie’s warm demeanor as it continued to soothe him and he greatly enjoyed the company of such a wonderful young woman. However, Preston also felt genuinely worthless inside his wounded soul for he had required the innocent Kenadie to console him through his panic attack and that was embarrassing for him for he never enjoyed putting people on the spot like that. He had done that to Vergil twice when they first met and that had driven Preston crazy the entire night, making him even more restless through the moonlit time. He hadn’t had decent sleep in weeks, even with the help of his medicine which Preston felt that maybe he needed to request a higher dosage from Dr. Kadic. Although, he was sure he wouldn’t get it, especially from his previous past with drugs. The doctor would be concerned that Preston would relapse and end up in trouble again. The memory of spending those few months in the cage sent a fearful chill through his spine, recalling all the insanity that occurred in the prison facility. He had assaulted a drinking gambling patron during Preston’s days as an alcoholic idiot; beaten the man almost to death after he had lost all his gambling money to the cheater. Man those days were disgraceful… he hated remembering he was such a lost cause.
“I’ll have to look into that song, it was wonderful!” He beamed as he rose from the ground and allowed the small girl to guide him to the best spot to stare at the floating white puffs in the sky. “And I hope maybe…” He paused, a bit nervous in questioning her. “You would join me in some jamming later on today. You see, I’m trying to write some songs and maybe you could help me with the melody. I’m having trouble thinking of something, and maybe our time under the imaginative clouds will give us something?” He hoped the young girl wouldn’t take his rambling as creepy. Preston really had enjoyed her voice and maybe with her voice, he could come up with something for his band to sing… maybe even invite her to meet-up with the guys… wait what was he thinking? This was a little girl, not some adult! He couldn’t just drag this poor child everywhere Preston wanted to go like a doll! However, she seemed extremely sweet and took well to music, which made Preston very happy. She had a musical soul and Preston was surprised he had not seem in it in her, since this human saw so much of her in himself. The same eyes, the way she presented herself to him was just like looking in a mirror. It was eerie and saddening, for he was now sure this girl was still going through a tough time from how she had responded to his compliments and to his welcoming hand. Granted, any child should be pretty fearful of a stranger trying to grab them, but she seemed different. She wasn’t fearful, she was cautious which meant something had probably happened to her to be this way. Maybe I’m reading into this too much. Maybe I’m just out looking for people that are like me… He questioned himself. Maybe I’m just trying to pity myself… He huffed sadly, again upset with his thoughts about Kenadie. For all he knew, she was a happy normal little girl and Preston was just trying to find the bad in everything!
“Where is this awesome spot you told me about Ms. Kenadie?” Preston shoved the thoughts from his mind, his blue eyes trying to shield his true thoughts as he gazed upward to the blue ocean floating above.
ooc; hope this is alright!
